The work
A special fastener is a shaft with a thread on it
Non-standard fasteners get treated as turned parts rather than as bought-out items, which is why the head form, the shank tolerance and the thread run-out come out right instead of approximately right. Threads are cut or rolled to the drawing, and where a fastener carries load the shank is induction hardened rather than the whole part, so the head keeps its toughness.
- Materials
- Carbon and alloy steels, case hardening grades, stainless including 316 and duplex, brass and bronze, and specialty alloys such as Inconel, Monel and titanium where service conditions call for them.
- Size range
- Bar to 106 mm through the spindle, turned lengths to approximately 700 mm on the turn-mill centre and 1200 mm on the turning centres.
- Features handled
- Thread forms to drawing including fine and non-standard pitches, hex and knurled heads, shoulders and undercuts, cross holes and screwdriver slots, drilled heads for locking wire, and induction hardened shanks.
- Inspection
- Thread gauges and the shadowgraph with automated image analysis for form. Shank diameters on the CMM, or by air gauge for repeat quantities. Hardness confirmed on site after induction hardening.

Made to the drawing, proved against it

Certification route
Anicon holds ISO 9001:2015. Where a part calls for IATF 16949 it is supplied through Versatile Equipments Pvt Ltd, certified to IATF 16949 and ISO 9001:2015. Anicon’s own IATF certification is in progress.
