Hydraulic lash adjusters
One adjuster per valve. Millions per programme. Made here
A hydraulic lash adjuster is a small precision hydraulic cylinder that keeps a valve train at zero clearance for the life of the engine. Anicon makes them in production, on a process chain built for the volumes an engine programme runs at.
Why an adjuster is not just a turned part
A hydraulic cylinder that has to work for two hundred million cycles
The clearance between the plunger and the bore is a few microns, and it is not a tolerance chosen for its own sake. It is the leak-down rate. Too tight and the adjuster pumps up and holds the valve off its seat; too loose and it collapses under the lift. Everything about how the part is made follows from that one fit.
- Valve train work already runs here
- Rocker arm assemblies of around thirty-six components are built and despatched direct on line. The adjuster sits in the same valve train, often in the same assembly, and is quoted in the same conversation.
- The finishing is on site
- Bores are honed and plungers superfinished here, and each plunger is matched to its bore by class. The fit that decides the part is never left to a subcontractor’s certificate.
- Every part is tested
- Leak-down is measured on every adjuster, not sampled. A part that has not been through the rig does not leave. Cleanliness is controlled because the check valve is the first thing a particle finds.
- The programme scale is the point
- Bar turning, induction and case hardening, air gauging of volume bores, selective assembly and 100% test are what the plant is organised around. That is a process chain for millions of parts, not thousands.

How it works
The three states in every cam revolution: refill on the base circle, a rigid link on the lift, and controlled leak-down that is taken up again.

A 2D or 3D file, the quantity and the date you need it. You will get a considered reply within one working day, including the reply that we are not the right shop for the part, which is worth knowing early. A mutual NDA is issued first on request.
