The work
Torque finds the weakest fit
Gears, cages and flywheels give up at the fit long before they give up in the tooth. Bore concentricity, keyway position and face runout decide whether a drive stays quiet, and all three are held by turning and milling the part in one clamping wherever the geometry allows it. Tooth flanks and journals are induction hardened here rather than sent out.
- Materials
- EN8, EN19, EN24 and equivalent alloy steels, case hardening grades, grey and ductile iron castings, and bronze for worm wheels.
- Size range
- Turned to 315 mm diameter, larger blanks on the turning centres to 1200 mm between centres. Prismatic work to 600 x 500 x 500 mm.
- Features handled
- Keyways and splines, bores to interference or running fit, milled windows and pockets, balancing features, and induction hardened tooth flanks and journals.
- Inspection
- Bore size and roundness on the CMM or by air gauge. Face and total runout on the CMM. Case depth and surface hardness confirmed after induction hardening.
Accuracy
Made to the drawing, proved against it
Tell us at enquiry stage which characteristic decides the part. We will confirm capability against that one rather than quote a general figure and hope.
Certification route
Anicon holds ISO 9001:2015. Where a part calls for IATF 16949 it is supplied through Versatile Equipments Pvt Ltd, certified to IATF 16949 and ISO 9001:2015. Anicon’s own IATF certification is in progress.
