The work
Small quantities, and a paper trail that has to hold
Instrument work runs in tens rather than thousands, and it is judged on things a production shop often treats as secondary: material traceability back to the mill, cleanliness in a bore, a finish that will survive repeated sterilisation, and batch records that still make sense two years later. The volumes suit a shop that can set up quickly, and the documentation suits one that already runs control plans.

How it is proved
What gets measured, and with what
Material test certificates supplied with the batch. Geometry on the CMM, small profiled features on the shadowgraph with automated image analysis, surface finish on the SJ-410. Batch records retained.
